June 21 (Cointime) - Shares of Bitcoin miner Iris Energy have risen by almost 20% following news of its planned expansion to 9.1 exahashes/second (EH/s). The company aims to expand its capacity by 63% by early 2024 and revitalize its high-performance computing (HPC) data center strategy.

Bitcoin miner earns over $160,000 with a single rig, defying the odds

Despite the recent downturn in the crypto market, one lucky bitcoin miner managed to solve a block using a single Antminer S9 rig. The miner earned 6.175 BTC, or $160,100, which is 200 times the price of the rig on Amazon. The miner used Solo CKPool, a software proxy that returns 98% of bitcoin rewards to the miner instead of sharing profits with other miners. Solo CKPool is ideal for small setups that may struggle to sync the entire Bitcoin blockchain, but large mining operations can also use it.
