July 1 (Cointime) - The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is facing accusations of enforcing legal challenges against the crypto industry without clear rules.
The U.S. Supreme Court is reportedly set to examine the legality of the commission's in-house enforcement proceedings, which could have a significant impact on federal agencies. The case alleges that the SEC's enforcement proceedings are unconstitutional and violate the right to a jury trial, as well as infringe on congressional powers. This comes as the SEC is actively filing legal charges against major crypto exchanges and related firms, with Coinbase asking the court to dismiss the SEC's lawsuit against it.
