Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming urged a New York district court to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission against cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, partly because the agency's treatment of cryptocurrencies "runs counter to ongoing legislative efforts." Lummis recently introduced a comprehensive bill with New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to regulate digital assets, stating that the SEC has exceeded its authority in regulating cryptocurrencies. Lummis and other stakeholders submitted a joint non-party statement on Friday, calling for the dismissal of the case against Coinbase. Several cryptocurrency and technology advocacy groups, including the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Innovation Committee, the Consumer Technology Association, and the Progressive Business Association, also submitted a joint non-party statement on Friday, calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed.
