June 15 (Cointime) - Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange that has been in a public dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has sent a letter to the regulator opposing a proposal to regulate decentralized exchanges like centralized ones.
The Chief Legal Officer of Coinbase, Paul Grewel, argued that it would be impossible for a decentralized exchange like Uniswap to register in the same way as a national securities exchange.
In the letter, Grewel also stated that the SEC does not have the authority to ban an industry without clear Congressional authorization and criticized the lack of real economic analysis in the proposed rules.
