On Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, the number of Ordinal inscriptions on the Bitcoin blockchain crossed 200,000 at 1:02 p.m. Eastern Time. In addition to the 200,000 inscriptions, Yuga Labs, creators of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) non-fungible tokens (NFTs), revealed that the team had created a collection of 300 generative ordinal NFTs called Twelvefold.

Bitcoin Core Dev Calls out 'Misleading' Auction Selling his Code as an NFT
One of the original core developers behind Bitcoin, Luke Dashjr, has taken to social media to call out an auction site that has used his name and code without his consent to create and sell a “misleading” NFT. The core developer said he hasn't been the first Bitcoin developer to have his name or his work used in this way. In a Feb. 27 post on Twitter, the developer revealed a non-fungible token (NFT), featuring a picture of code he wrote, was sold at an auction site for 0.41 Bitcoin, or roughly $9,500 at the time of writing. Bored Ape Creators Unveil Bitcoin Ordinals Collection “TwelveFold”
Yuga Labs will release a series of artistic crypto collectibles on Bitcoin’s Ordinals protocol, according to an announcement from the company on Feb. 27. The collection is titled TwelveFold and will feature 300 pieces of generative art — that is, images that have been created through the use of algorithms. Each image in the TwelveFold collection is designed around a 12-by-12 grid in reference to the commonly used base-12 timekeeping system — and in reference to the fact that Bitcoin Ordinals are identified by the time that they are minted. Yuga Labs did not announce a specific time or date for the auction. Instead, it said that it will announce the auction within 24 hours of the event. (cryptoslate)
