Blockchain Base, driven by Coinbase, announced a partnership with blockchain music platform Sound.xyz on December 19, allowing artists to create music through the Base ecosystem.Sound announced on X that because the Base ecosystem is Ethereum's second layer, the gas fees for minting non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are cheaper and transactions are faster. The company said these factors will also allow artists to upload and withdraw without having to buy cryptocurrency or bridge funds.

Music NFT platform Sound.xyz announced the acquisition of digital collectibles platform Soho. The entire Soho team led by Omid Aziz will join Sound, with Omid serving as its Chief Technology Officer.
