NFT Painting of Ethereum Co-Founder Sells for $392,308 in Secondary Market

A one-of-a-kind NFT painting titled "EthBoy" depicting Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin as a jester has sold for 200 ETH, equivalent to $392,308, on the secondary market. The artwork was created by crypto artists Trevor Jones and Alotta Money and initially sold for a record-breaking 260 ETH in November 2020. The resale of "EthBoy" injects hope into the struggling NFT ecosystem, which has been facing an escalating crisis due to the optional nature of creator fees on major platforms like OpenSea. The original buyer of "EthBoy" will also receive a portion of the creator fee generated by the artwork's sale.

According to the US Department of Justice (DOJ), Aurelien Michel, the developer of the MAYC imitation game Mutant Ape Planet NFT, pleaded guilty to a fraud case involving about $3 million in the US federal court. Michel is a French citizen residing in the United Arab Emirates. He was arrested in New York earlier this year on suspicion of fraudulently obtaining $2.9 million. Aurelien Michel, the developer of the Mutant Ape Planet NFT collection, has pleaded guilty to defrauding buyers in a rug pull that resulted in nearly $3 million in profit. Michel, a French citizen residing in the United Arab Emirates, was arrested in New York and faces up to five years in prison. He has also agreed to pay $1.4 million in forfeiture. Michel admitted to the rug pull in the community's Discord channel under the pseudonym "James," stating that the community had become too toxic.

Disney partners with Dapper Labs to launch NFT collectibles platform Disney Pinnacle

According to CoinDesk, Disney has partnered with NBA Top Shot developer Dapper Labs to launch a mobile NFT application called Disney Pinnacle. The app is aimed at invited users (on the waiting list for testing and feedback) and offers "early access, closed release". Dapper's Senior Product Manager, Rachel Rogers, stated in an email that the official release will be available on the Apple App Store first, followed by release on web browsers and the Google Play Store.
