Yuga Labs Says it Wins First Bored Ape Trademark Lawsuit Against RR/BAYC Project
Yuga Labs, the company behind the leading non-fungible token (NFT) project, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), won a settlement on Monday in a trademark infringement lawsuit against Thomas Lehman, a collaborator in the RR/BAYC project headed by artist Ryder Ripps, according to court filings. Yuga Labs, which has a US$4 billion valuation, brought the case against Lehman in the District Court of New York last month for his part in the RR/BAYC project involving 10,000 NFTs that share similar names and traits to BAYC. He allegedly helped create the smart contract for that collection. (forkast)

Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has partnered with Korean drama distributor Studio Dragon to issue non-fungible tokens (NFTs) inspired by popular Korean drama series, including the hit Crash Landing on You, the exchange said on Monday. The pair on Feb. 8 plan to release the first batch of NFTs of special editions of Studio Dragon’s art toy DearRo based on two popular Korean drama series Crash Landing on You and Start-Up. (forkast)
File-sharing Heavyweight WeTransfer Dips Toe in NFT Waters
File hosting giant WeTransfer and blockchain platform Minima will begin rolling out an NFT minting service in March. The NFTs will be offered through a secure peer-to-peer network, allowing the transfer of an NFT from person-to-person without third-party intermediaries, according to a company release. Anyone who uses the free Minima cooperative can create their own assets to share on the network, and will also allow creators to collect royalty payments – a levy paid back to creators upon any sale or resale of an NFT.
