LayerZero

ALL From LayerZero

LayerZero is now online at Manta Pacific

LayerZero has announced that it has gone live on Manta Pacific. Manta Network is a modular execution layer for EVM native zero-knowledge (ZK) applications, achieving scalability by leveraging a separate data availability layer and Caldera's OP stack. Developers can use LayerZero to achieve interoperability between Manta Pacific and networks with LayerZero endpoints, such as Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Optimism.

LayerZero Labs launches value attribution solution ColorTrace

On November 14th, ayerZero Labs launched ColorTrace, a value attribution solution that can attribute (color) alternative tokens to the original entity (issuer), in order to track any form of fair contribution to the success of the protocol, and help achieve fair distribution of revenue, alliance plans, referral links, and many other common real-world applications.

LayerZero has been launched on Near mainnet

On November 10th, according to official sources, the cross-chain interoperability protocol LayerZero has gone live on the Near mainnet. Developers based on LayerZero can now easily expand their applications to integrate with the NEAR network.

LayerZero opens Quest on Layer3, and the community speculates that it is related to airdrops

Cross-chain interoperability protocol LayerZero has launched its Quest on Web3 bounty platform Layer3, including activities on the four main cross-chain bridges of LayerZero: Stargate, Bitcoin Bridge, Testnet Bridge, and Aptos Bridge. The community speculates that these Quests may be related to potential airdrops. Yesterday, there was speculation in the community that LayerZero is about to airdrop, as the "layerzero.foundation" domain name, which has not yet been put into use, added an SSL certificate on November 3. Given that the update frequency of the "layerzero.foundation" domain name is highly consistent with that of the "layerzero.network" domain name, which has been confirmed to belong to the LayerZero project, the community speculates that the former domain name is also under the management of the LayerZero project.

The community speculates that LayerZero is about to be airdropped due to the addition of an SSL certificate to the “layerzero.foundation” domain name.

The community speculates that LayerZero will soon airdrop due to the addition of an SSL certificate to the "layerzero.foundation" domain name, which has not yet been put into use, on November 3. Given the high similarity in update frequency between the "layerzero.foundation" domain name and the "layerzero.network" domain name, which has been confirmed to belong to the LayerZero project, the community speculates that this domain name is also managed by the LayerZero project. According to Odaily's statistics, before each major action, the LayerZero project often performs such operations on related domain names: On September 7, 2022, the LayerZero Scan protocol browser was officially launched, and an SSL certificate was added to the "layerzeroscan.com" domain name on September 5; On October 19, 2022, the Aptos cross-chain bridge was officially launched, and an SSL certificate was added to the "theaptosbridge.com" domain name on October 17; On November 17, 2022, the Bitcoin cross-chain bridge was officially launched, and an SSL certificate was added to the "bitcoinbridge.network" domain name on November 16; On February 21, 2023, the Goerli test network cross-chain bridge was officially launched, and an SSL certificate was added to the "testnetbridge.com" domain name on February 20; Therefore, it can be inferred that LayerZero will probably take some actions related to the "layerzero.foundation" domain name next. It should be noted that just having an SSL certificate does not prove that LayerZero will definitely airdrop. Objectively speaking, this is just a project measure for the domain name owner to improve the quality of basic settings.

Nine Ethereum protocols criticize LayerZero's new bridged token standard

Nine protocols in the Ethereum ecosystem, including Connext, Chainsafe, Sygma, LiFi, Socket, Hashi, Across, Celer, and Router, have criticized LayerZero's new bridged token for its "vendor-locked proprietary standard." They claim that this standard limits the freedom of token issuers and creates systemic risks for projects. The protocols advocate for the use of the xERC-20 token standard for bridging stETH instead of LayerZero's new token. LayerZero launched the bridged version of stETH, called "Wrapped Staked Ether (wstETH)," on BNB Chain, Avalanche, and Scroll without needing the approval of Lido's governing body, LidoDAO.

LayerZero introduces cross-chain interoperability for wstETH, expanding DeFi opportunities beyond Ethereum

LayerZero's interoperability protocol now allows for the transfer of wrapped stETH tokens (wstETH) from Lido Finance's liquid staking protocol across multiple chains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Scroll. The integration of wstETH into LayerZero's omnichain fungible token standard (OFT) aims to mitigate risks associated with wrapped assets in cross-chain native token transfers. OFT uses a decentralized communication protocol to move tokens, rather than minting and burning wrapped tokens. This cross-chain interoperability of wstETH is expected to expand DeFi opportunities beyond Ethereum and into Avalanche, BNB, and Scroll. Lido Finance currently has the highest total value locked (TVL) among liquid staking protocols, with $15.85 billion locked in as of October 25th.

Merit Circle: Game subnet Beam has integrated LayerZero

On October 25th, Merit Circle, a chain game guild, announced that the game subnet Beam has integrated with LayerZero to enhance interoperability within the Beam network. Users can transfer assets on Ethereum to the Beam network through the Beam Bridge, including Merit Circle's token MC and various game tokens that will be released on Beam in the future. The Beam SDK will integrate the LayerZero stack through its full-chain contract for replaceable tokens (OFT) and non-replaceable tokens (ONFT). Note that Merit Circle, a chain game guild, launched the game-centered blockchain Beam in April this year. The network is a subnet created for Merit Circle DAO and is supported by Avalanche. It operates independently to meet the needs of game players and developers. Beam will support games such as Trial Xtreme, Walker World, Hash Rush, Sphere, and Edenhorde Eclipse, and will also launch AMM products and other infrastructure products.

LayerZero has launched Horizen public EVM-compatible sidechain and smart contract platform Horizen EON

On October 25th, LayerZero Labs announced that its cross-chain interoperability protocol, LayerZero, has been launched on Horizen's public EVM-compatible sidechain and smart contract platform, Horizen EON. Developers using Horizen EON can now interact with over 40 chains that support LayerZero and the smart contracts deployed on those blockchains.
