Ethereum ACDE 177: Developers discuss performance of second Goerli shadow fork
Christine Kim, Vice President of Galaxy Research, summarized the 177th Ethereum Core Developer Execution Layer Meeting (ACDE). This week, developers set tentative dates for activating the Cancun/Deneb upgrade on all three public Ethereum test networks. The test network upgrade times are: Goerli fork on January 17, 2023, Sepolia fork on January 31, 2023, and Holesky fork on February 7, 2023. The above dates may change because developers may need to update them due to unexpected errors and issues with client releases in the coming weeks. Developers also discussed the performance of the second Goerli shadow fork, the precompiled address range for Layer 2, and expectations for the Prague/Electra upgrade. The meeting also confirmed that the next ACDE meeting will be held on January 4, 2023.

The Ethereum Foundation issued a document updating test network Goerli support updates
On December 1st, the Ethereum Foundation updated its support for the Ethereum test network Goerli. Three months after the Goerli Dencun fork or one month after the mainnet Dencun fork, client teams and foundation developers will begin to stop running Goerli validators. Therefore, developers who rely on the Goerli test network are reminded to migrate in advance. Application tool developers are recommended to migrate to the Sepolia test network, while staking and infrastructure developers are recommended to migrate to the Holesky test network.
