Baidu releases updated version of "Ernie" AI chatbot with improved understanding, generation, reasoning, and memory capabilities.
Baidu, a major Chinese tech company, has launched version 4.0 of its popular Ernie chatbot, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs). CEO Robin Li has claimed that the updated model is on a par with GPT-4 in terms of overall performance. The new Ernie model has improved capabilities in understanding, generation, reasoning and memory, according to Li. It can interpret out-of-order statements, vague expressions and implied meanings in text, generate images, video and coherent copy, and remember previously generated content.
