Volinergy is a company specialized in the electrification of airways through innovative battery module technologies related to battery thermal and energy management, mechanical assembly and software deployment. The electrification of air transport is very promising, but is limited by the battery systems that bring important limitations. The first main problem is related to the autonomy of the vehicle which is directly linked to the low energy density of Li-ion cells. The second problem is the low durability of the batteries that require frequent system changes, which is expensive and not optimal for high volume deployment. The third issue is battery safety since Li-ion cells have an intrinsic thermal runaway problem. Volinergy has developed new technologies around energy management, thermal management, mechanical assembly and data management. All together, these technologies allow to better cool the battery system and to avoid the propagation of a thermal runaway, while better managing the energy to reduce losses and inaccessible energy and finally to better process the data at the Li-ion cells. The technologies are appropriately protected according to their use and novelty. Volinergy sells battery modules as a product and a SaaS platform, which is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms.
