Dr. Dixon has been a director of Alkermes since January 2011. She has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, combining a technical background with experience in drug development, regulatory affairs and marketing. She directed the launch of and growth of more than 20 pharmaceutical products.

From 2001 to 2009 she was Chief Marketing Officer and President, Global Marketing for Bristol-Myers Squibb where she served on the Executive Committee.

From 1996 to 2001 she was Senior Vice President, Marketing at Merck & Co. and prior to that she held executive management positions at West Pharmaceuticals, Osteotech, and Centocor and various positions at SmithKline and French (now GlaxoSmithKline) in marketing, regulatory affairs, project management and as a biochemist.

Dr. Dixon is on the Board of Directors of Furiex Pharmaceuticals, Orexigen Therapeutics, Incyte Corporation, Edimer Pharmaceuticals and bluebird bio and was formerly on the Board of Dentsply International and Ardea Biosciences, Inc. She was a Senior Advisor to The Monitor Group, a worldwide consulting firm.
