Dr. Tom T. S. Shao, Ph.D., is a General Partner at Technology Associates Management Co. (TAMC). He is also a Co-Founder of the firm. Dr. Shao is an angel investor and has seeded many companies over the past 20 years. Prior to founding TAMC, Dr. Shao was the Senior Consultant at Technology Associates Corporation (TAC) in Taiwan. He has also been an Executive Vice President at Dyna Tech Development Corporation (DDC) based in California, since 1985 and was its Senior Consultant of Marketing and Business Development on a part-time basis since 1995. Dr. Shao was responsible for all management consulting contracts at DDC, made investment decisions on business plans submitted to DDC and attended Board of Director meetings after investing. He has accumulated a diverse management and operational background at corporations such as Bell Laboratories, AT&T, and IBM in the fields of business information systems, network planning and operations, numerical computation, computer architecture, telecommunication systems, computer hardware and software systems, supercomputing, cellular telephone network, and High-Definition TV (HDTV). From 1985 to 1986 after he left AT&T, Dr. Shao joined a startup company as a Vice President of Technology specialized in transmitting data over TV signal channels in New Jersey. He has maintained an extensive overseas network and has served as a Senior Technical and a Management Consultant, and an Advisor to such government agencies in Taiwan, including Hsin-Chu Science-based Industrial Park (HSIP), Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), Ministry of Economics (MOEA), National Science Council (NSC), Telecommunications Lab. (TL) & DGT, ITRI/ERSO, and Executive Yuan's STAG organization. On the investment side, Dr. Shao monitored and helped managed startup companies in various fields of high-tech. He was a consultant to Arthur D. Little, Boston Consulting Group, and DataQuest. Dr. Shao is a Board Member of AltiGen Communications (COB), Geometrix, Quintum, AboveNet Communications, Inc., DDC, Elite Microelectronics, The Complete PC, VIC Corp., Utility Systems Corporation, Visionetics International, Inc. He is also a Member of Advisory Bard at Alliance Management Consulting Co., Ltd. Dr. Shao has served as a Board Member of many publicly and privately held high-tech companies. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, an M.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois, and a B.S. from the National Taiwan University. He is also appointed as Managing Director at Techgains Corporation. He is also appointed as President at TSS Enterprises.
