Thomas Schäfer is Vice President of BioAg & Industrial Microbiology at Novozymes. He is the head of the company’s research in agricultural microbials, leading a team of more than 100 scientists. His department works to find microbes in nature that can improve crop growth, enhance a plant’s ability to take up nutrients, and protect crops against insects and disease. These solutions are developed and marketed through Novozymes’ and Monsanto’s The BioAg Alliance. Thomas has worked 20 years in industrial biotechnology and has experience in innovation, R&D management, due diligence and business development.
