Stephen P. MacMillan joined Hologic in December 2013 as President and Chief Executive Officer, and has led a dramatic turnaround at the Company. Stephen was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors in June 2015.

From 2005 to 2012, Stephen served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Stryker Corporation, where he had been President since 2003. During his tenure at Stryker, Stephen successfully led the company through a series of key strategic acquisitions, the launch of a number of products within the orthopedic implants and medical instrumentation businesses, and delivered strong operating performance, with revenue tripling from $2.8 billion to $8.3 billion, between 2003 and 2011.

Prior to 2003, Stephen was a Senior Executive with Pharmacia Corporation (now Pfizer), where he oversaw five global businesses with revenues exceeding $2 billion, including one in diagnostics.

Prior to joining Pharmacia, Stephen spent 11 years with Johnson & Johnson in a variety of senior roles both in the U.S. and Europe, including President of the joint venture between Johnson & Johnson and Merck.

Stephen began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1985.

Stephen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Davidson College and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Stephen currently serves on the board of directors of Boston Scientific Corporation and The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), the industry association for the medical technology industry.

Stephen previously served on the Boards of Directors of Alere, Inc. and Texas Instruments.
