Richard is an entrepreneur, advisor and investor having started up and led various asset management and fintech businesses. In 2008, he co-founded Emerging Global Advisors, a NYC based fund company managing ETFs with assets over USD 2 billion which included the Emerging Market Consumer ETF (NYSE: ECON), ranked #`1 by Morningstar by performance. In 2016, the firm was sold to Columbia Threadneedle (the investment arm of Ameriprise Financial). Over his nearly 30 years of buy-side experience, Richard has held senior roles at a hedge fund, fund-of-hedge fund, index provider and ETF issuer/manager most often as a co-founder and Chief Investment Officer. A regular on CNBC and Bloomberg TV plus the mainstream press including the Wall Street Journal and Forbes, Richard taught the “Fundamentals of Portfolio Management” course at NYU. In recent years, Richard has continued to be involved with innovative areas including bitcoin ETFs, robo advisors based in emerging markets, carbon as an asset class and involvement with tech accelerators/VC fund based in East Asia.
