Joshua Ellul is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and also the Director of the Centre for DLT at the University of Malta, which has launched a unique multi-disciplinary taught Masters in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies. He previously was Chairman of the Malta Digital Innovation Authority where he oversaw the setup of the authority and a world-first techno-regulatory framework focused on Blockchain, DLT and Smart Contracts, and thereafter the authority's technology focused regulatory sandbox.His experience and roles with the University, Autority and other professional engagements gives him a broad perspective of issues pertaining to the emerging technology landscape in Malta and beyond. Prof. Ellul’s research interests include Blockchain, DLTs, Smart Contracts and Virtual Machines and their integration with the Internet of Things, as well as on technology focused regulation.
