Jane Henney is a Member of the Board of Directors at Cigna since 2013.

Jane served as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (an educational institution) from 2008 until 2012. Jane served as Senior Vice President and Provost of Health Affairs at the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center from 2003 until 2008.

Appointed by Bill Clinton, Jane served as the first female Commissioner of Food and Drugs from 1998 to 2001. Jane was appointed to the position of Home Secretary of the Institute of Medicine, a division of the National Academies of Sciences designed to advise the nation on health issues, in April 2014.

Jane has been a Member of the Board of Directors at AmerisourceBergen Corporation (a bio-pharmaceutical company) since 2002 and served as a Member of the Board of Directors at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (a pharmaceutical and biologics company) from 2012 until January 2015.

Jane also served as a Member of the Board of Directors at AstraZeneca PLC from 2001 until 2011.

Jane received recognition from the National Association of Corporate Directors as an NACD Directorship 100 “Class of 2011” and “Class of 2012” Member. Janealso is an NACD Board Leadership Fellow.

Jane is a native of Indiana, growing up in the small community of Woodburn. Jane received her Undergraduate degree from Manchester College, her M.D. degree in Medicine from Indiana University and completed her subspecialty training in Medical Oncology at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute and the National Cancer Institute.
