Akio Tajima is a member of the Board of Directors and a senior executive director of DENSO Corporation in Kariya, Aichi, Japan. He is responsible for the Purchasing Group and Corporate Center at DENSO Corporation.

After receiving a bachelors degree in Economics from Kyoto University, Tajima joined DENSO Corporation (formerly Nippondenso Co., Ltd.) in 1978. Tajima began his career in the Accounting & Finance Division, where he was responsible for corporate accounting and tax matters.

In 1990, he was transferred to DENSO Europe B.V. where he was responsible for business planning, accounting and finance, and human resources for the sales group in Europe.

Returning to DENSO headquarters in 1995, Tajima joined the Accounting and Finance Division and focused on cash management, capital investment, and foreign exchange management. In 1998, Tajima was promoted to project manager. While in that position, he was in charge of corporate accounting and tax matters.

In recognition of Tajima's financial expertise, he was appointed general manager of the Corporate Planning Division in January 2001. In this position he managed corporate financing, capital policy, and investor relations.

In April 2005, Tajima was named director of the Human Resources Division. He was promoted to one of DENSO's executive directors in June 2005. He was appointed to senior executive director in June 2011.
