According to the Spring Budget 2023 paper published on 15th March, UK residents will be required to disclose their cryptocurrency holdings and identify them separately on their tax return forms, beginning with the tax year ending in April 2025.
The government will introduce changes to the Self Assessment tax return forms, requiring taxpayers to identify separately any amounts related to cryptoassets. These changes will be implemented in the tax return forms for the year 2024-25.
Holding cryptocurrencies will not incur a tax.
