OKX Ventures announces the strategic investment in Scroll, a zkEVM-based zkRollup on Ethereum. Scroll enables native compatibility for existing Ethereum applications and tools.
Scroll just launched a permissionless Goerli Testnet last week, And Pre Alpha closed with progressive numbers, 600k+ unique addresses with 400k+ daily tx at the end of January.
OKX Ventures pay much attention to the scalability of Ethereum, Off-chain solutions are implemented separately from layer 1 Mainnet, and this Layer 2 solution requires no changes to the existing Ethereum protocol. While Scroll runs computation off-chain and submits a validity proof to the chain, by implementing the EVM circuit. With this architecture, it can be used for token transfers and specialized applications but limited in capability, it will take a little longer to implement general-purpose smart contracts.
180,000 unique wallet addresses and over 665,000 transactions have been completed on Scroll Alpha, the last major phase before MainNet, Alpha is open to everyone.
The Mainnet will be launched in 4 months developed by concerted actions from Scroll team and community.
As Cointime reported, Scroll raised $50 million in a new funding round recently. Investors in the round included Polychain Capital, Sequoia China, Bain Capital Crypto, Moore Capital Management, Variant Fund, Newman Capital, IOSG Ventures and Qiming Venture Partners. The round brings Scroll's valuation to $1.8 billion.
