Elon Musk Twitter has announced the release of a new feature that allows its users to track the price of a major stock, ETFs or cryptocurrencies through the search function.
Simply Place a $ Sign in Front of the Asset Being Queried
The team at Twitter added that the new feature is accessible by simply placing a $ sign in front of the asset being queried and pressing enter.
They explained, ‘When you Tweet the symbol of a major stock, ETF, or cryptocurrency with a $ in front of it (like $BTC), people on Twitter see a clickable link that takes them to search results. Starting today, these search results will include the pricing graphs for major symbols.’
In addition, users can access the charts by searching the symbols directly ‘without clicking on a link within a Tweet.’ Most major symbols, such as QQQ, can be searched without the $ sign.
Nice Work by Twitter Team — Elon Musk
However, support for Elon Musk’s favourite meme-coin, Dogecoin (DOGE), is conspicuously missing from the charting feature on Twitter. But the Twitter team added that they plan to refine the user experience in the coming weeks and expand the platform’s financial tickers/symbols coverage.
Twitter’s owner and CEO, Elon Musk, also chimed in on the feature’s progress, congratulating the team for the achievement.
‘One of many product improvements coming to financial Twitter! Nice work by Twitter team,’ he tweeted.
Twitter’s Charts Have an Advertising Link to Robinhood
The crypto community has also quickly noted that at the bottom of each price chart on Twitter is a link to Robinhood. This, in turn, has led to the loose theory that the trading platform is using the opportunity to advertise its services on Twitter strategically. The team at @WuBlockchain shared this theory through the tweet below.
