Dante Disparte, the Chief Strategy Officer, Head of Global Policy of  the USDC stablecoin issuer Circle, denied the rumor that circle has received a Wells notice from U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Twitter. 

There were unconfirmed speculations that the SEC had issued a Wells notice to Circle, implying that the regulator intends to initiate enforcement actions against the firm. 

Those rumors were primarily spread by a now deleted tweet from FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terret.

Eleanor Terret apologized for the mistake later.
