Since the inception of AO, discussions on how to deploy various applications on the platform have proliferated, with the gaming sector taking the lead in implementation. From the officially promoted Llama Land to the AO versions of Happy Farm, electronic pets, and match-three games developed by the Chinese community, new vitality and fun are injected into the ecosystem every day. Although the number of games is increasing daily, most are simple single-player games. Games with playability and spectator appeal, such as turn-based, card games, and real-time strategy, are still lacking on AO. Last week, PermaDAO launched the "AO Game Live Streaming" series of events, further igniting the community's enthusiasm for AO games. People are dreaming of when they can play Texas Hold'em together on AO or engage in online battles in "Hearthstone." A game that combines excellent gameplay and smooth performance has long been anticipated by the AO community.

Today, the founder of Redstone teased their latest work, "Cyberbeavers," on Twitter. In his tweet, he enthusiastically called on everyone to join the Cyberbeavers game under @ao_builders, compete for the title of best player, and win RSG token rewards, which has sparked widespread interest in the community.

So, what kind of game is Cyberbeavers? What unique gameplay does it offer? Before we dive deep into revealing this game, let's first learn step by step how to log in, join the whitelist, and get ready for battle.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Playing Cyberbeavers (Beginner's Tutorial)

First, be sure to bookmark the following game login portal:

Cyberbeavers is currently deployed on multiple servers, similar to the European, American, and Asian servers in World of Warcraft. Each server may have different game start times, so before entering the game, it's recommended to test the network connection of each server and choose the one with the lowest latency for the best gaming experience.

For example, here is the login page for the Asian server:

Asian server login URL:https://beavers-asia.warp.cc/

When connecting to a European server, the network latency is as follows:

European server login URL: https://beavers.warp.cc/

For players who are familiar with online games, green means a stable connection, while yellow means high latency. Since Cyberbeavers is a real-time strategy game, it has certain requirements for the stability of the network connection. In order to avoid lags or delays affecting your gaming experience, it is strongly recommended that you choose a server with the best network connection quality.

Next, we will enter the game registration stage:

Step 1: Connect the wallet

After clicking on the game login URL, the following page will appear:

Players can choose to use Arweave wallet or ETH wallet (MetaMask) to connect and enter the corresponding password to log in successfully. Tests have shown that both wallet connections work properly.

Step 2: Authorize access

After entering the wallet password, the following page will pop up. Select "Always Allow" to authorize the game to access your wallet.

Step 3: Select the game session

After the authorization is successful, you will see the game lobby page. The list on the left shows the start time of each game session and the number of registered players. Yellow boxes represent games that have not yet started, and gray boxes represent games that have ended. The yellow box shows the countdown to the start of the game and the current number of registrations, with a maximum of 20 players per game. It should be noted that current tests have found that the same account can repeatedly join multiple game sessions, which means that one account can theoretically occupy all room quotas. (It is unclear whether the official will adjust this mechanism in the future, otherwise there may be a risk of the quota being filled maliciously by scripts or studios.)

Step 4: Join the game

Click the yellow box you want to join, and a confirmation window will pop up. Click the red button "Click here to join" to sign up for the game.

Step 5: Wait for the game to begin

After clicking the red button, the following page will appear, indicating that you have successfully registered. Then you just need to be patient and wait for the game to start.

Friendly reminder: It is currently observed that the official will open new game sessions every night. Please be sure to pay attention to the specific time when the game starts. For example, the picture above shows "Starts In 20:31:13", which means the game will start in 20 hours, 31 minutes and 13 seconds. It is recommended to set an alarm reminder to avoid missing the game.

Next, we’ll take an in-depth look at the game mechanics and gameplay of Cyberbeavers:

1. Cyberbeavers Game Introduction

From a technical perspective, Cyberbeavers (Chinese name: Cyberpunk Beaver) is a game that runs on the AO network. It cleverly utilizes AO's scheduling unit (SU), computing unit (CU) and messenger unit (MU), and implements a customized AO process, optimized for fast message processing and high throughput, thereby ensuring the game runs smoothly.

In terms of game type, Cyberbeavers is a multiplayer online, top-down perspective 2D shooter that incorporates some unique mechanics. The goal of the game is to get the highest points and ultimately win. Players can choose from two different game modes:

Mode 1: Deathmatch: In this mode, players need to collect tokens on the map and fight with other players. After each death, players will automatically resurrect and rejoin the battle to continue competing for points.

Mode 2: Battle Royale: Battle Royale mode is more challenging. The game map gradually shrinks over time, forcing players to engage in more intense confrontations. Unlike the deathmatch mode, in the battle royale mode, once the player is killed, he cannot be resurrected, and the game is over.

Currently, Cyberbeavers has opened two servers, and the game schedule is as follows:

  • Asia Pacific server: Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7 pm Beijing time
  • Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas Servers: Fridays at 6 pm UTC, Saturdays and Sundays at 5 pm UTC

2. What is the Core Mechanism of the Game "Cyberpunk Beaver"?

According to the official test pictures and text information currently released, Cyberbeavers is a real-time strategy battle game, and each game consists of multiple rounds. Each round typically lasts 10 seconds, during which time each player is awarded a certain number of Action Points (AP). Players can use these action points to perform various actions such as moving, shooting, digging, collecting and using items, etc.

At the beginning of each new round, the player's action points are reset to their initial value. If a player uses up all their action points before the end of a round, they will be unable to move for the remainder of the round, making them more vulnerable to attacks from other players, so planning and allocating action points wisely is crucial.

The current round number and remaining available action points will be displayed on the panel at the bottom of the game screen, allowing players to keep track of the game’s progress and their own status at any time (as shown in the figure below).

The picture above is the official game diagram. In this example, the player is in the late stages of the game (10 turns until the end of the game) and has 20 action points left to spend. The design of the game map is also quite strategic. Players need to continuously explore the map, and only a small area can be seen in the initial state. Objects hidden behind obstacles (such as other players) are invisible, adding to the suspense and challenge of the game. In addition, even the explored areas on the map will be shrouded in the fog of war if they are far away from the player's current location, and the player will not be able to observe any objects in the area, which makes reconnaissance and information acquisition particularly important.

3. Two Game Modes to Experience

Cyberbeavers currently offers two distinct game modes: the thrilling Deathmatch and the strategic Battle Royale.

Deathmatch

In the deathmatch mode, the core goal of the player is to search for treasures scattered across the game map and engage in fierce battles with other players. Whenever a player successfully defeats an opponent, the defeated player will randomly drop a token. Players will be resurrected at random locations on the map after death, which brings continuous dynamics and uncertainty to the game, making every battle full of variables. Each round lasts 10 seconds, and the full game usually lasts about 5 minutes. Within a limited time, players need to continuously collect resources, improve their own strength, and defeat as many opponents as possible to obtain higher points and final victory.

Battle Royale

Compared to Deathmatch, the battle royale mode emphasizes survival and strategy. The game map will gradually shrink over time, and a warning will be issued to all players before shrinking, prompting them to evacuate the disappearing area as soon as possible. If the player fails to escape from the dangerous area in time, he will be eliminated immediately.Different from the infinite resurrection mechanism in the deathmatch mode, in the battle royale mode, players only have one life, and they cannot continue the game once they die. This requires players to plan their action routes more carefully, avoid direct conflicts with enemies, and cleverly Make careful use of terrain and resources to improve their chances of survival. In order to balance the pace of the game, in the battle royale mode, all beavers' health is set to twice that of the deathmatch mode, increasing the duration and strategic depth of the battle. Each round lasts 5 seconds, and the full game usually lasts about 2.5 minutes. Players who successfully survive to the end will be rewarded with CB or RSG tokens, which will undoubtedly further motivate players to show more sophisticated strategies and stronger survival abilities in the battle royale mode.

Through these two carefully designed modes, Cyberbeavers not only provides players with a hearty combat experience, but also highlights the importance of strategic thinking and resource management, making it an entertaining and challenging game.

4. How to Earn Points in Cyberbeavers?

Cyberbeavers provides multiple ways for players to earn points. There are currently three main known ways:

  1. Mining and collecting different types of tokens;
  2. Collect items;
  3. Kill other players;

By actively participating in these activities, players can continuously accumulate points, improve their rankings, and ultimately win the game.

For example, in this official screenshot of the game, the player's current score is 120 points.

5. Game Character Selection Guide

Before entering a game of Cyberbeavers, players need to choose the character they want to control. The character selection interface is as follows:

The yellow card in the interface consists of two parts: the upper part shows the character attributes, and the lower part shows the weapon attributes (weapon attributes will be introduced in detail in Part 6).

  • Action Points (AP): The character's action points determine the number of actions that can be performed each round.
  • Health Points (HP): The character's health points.
  • Field of View (FOV): The character's field of view, which affects the player's ability to perceive the surrounding environment.
  • Token Bonus: The token incentives that can be obtained.
  • Kill Bonus: Additional bonus bonus can be obtained when killing other players.

Players can choose which beaver they want to control. There are three different types of beaves in the game, each with unique attributes, such as health points (HP), action points (AP), weapons used, etc. All details can be viewed in the panel below the selected beaver. Choosing the right beaver can help you gain an advantage in the game.

Generally speaking, there are three types of beavers in the game characters:

  1. Tech beaver has longest ranged weapon (5 fields)
  2. Heavy beaver has most HP, the least AP and middle-ranged weapon (3 fields)
  3. Speedy beaver has the most AP, the least HP and makes the most damage - but its weapon has only 1 field range

Therefore, players can choose the appropriate beaver according to different tactical needs to achieve better performance in the game.

Detailed Explanation of Weapon Selection and Attributes

In the weapon selection interface of Cyberbeavers, players can view detailed information about each weapon, including key data such as attack rate, range, and damage, hit rate, and critical hit rate at different distances.

In the above example (Shotgun) - player can perform at most 2 attacks per second. The weapon range is 3 fields.

  • At the 1 field (i.e. when the target is next to player) - it deals 37HP damage, the hit chance is 90%, the critical hit chance is 25% and the critical hit multiplier is 2.5x (so a critical hit at this range would deal 92.5HP damage).
  • For the field 3 (i.e. when the target is at the 3rd. field from the player) - it deals 22HP of damage with 70% change of hitting the target, the critical hit is only 5% and the critical hit multiplier is 1.6x

Controlling Your Beaver

1. arrow keys - move left, right, up, down

2. numeric keys (1..9) - use items from the backpack The currently owned items are shown in the panel in the bottom-right:

  • "1" - teleport - allows to quickly move to a different part of the map
  • "2" - mine - allows to deploy a mine - as a form of a trap for other players
  • "3" - scanner - scans the area around the beaver and reveals hidden tokens. The scan range is determined by the weapon range.
  • "4" - med-kit - allows to restore health

 3. d - dig - you can dig in the ground in search of tokens. All collected tokens will be transferred to your wallet at the end of the game.

4. c - collect item

5. tab - show detailed info about collected tokens, players, etc.

Attacking Other Players

Space + arrow (i.e. press and hold space and while holding space - press the arrow to choose the direction of the attack) - attack in the desired direction.

The direction in which you are shooting is marked red on the range indicator - in the below example the beaver is shooting to the left.

This attack method allows players to flexibly choose attack targets, increasing the strategy and effectiveness of the battle.

9. About Redstone Gem (RSG)

By participating in the game, you have a chance to win Red Stone Gems (RSG). RedStone Gems (RSG) are the most important part of the Expedition. They are activity points stored entirely on the blockchain. The user's transaction history, point calculation and verification of the RSG point system are all securely stored on the Arweave blockchain using [Warp](https://warp. cc/) contract SDK technology.

These RSGs are crucial in the final stages of the Expedition. They are used as a common metric to measure the contribution of participants and to distribute rewards equitably based on participation.

There are currently known ways to earn RSG:

  • Interact on the RedStone Discord server
  • Participate in community activities, such as those involving Galxe
  • Join RedStone Miners Ambassador Program
  • Collaborate with RedStone partners in on-chain events
  • Create [valuable content] around RedStone(https://x.com/makarov_btc/status/1716469280097587460?s=20)
  • Actively participate in RedStone’s online and in-person (IRL) activities.
  • Play "Cyberpunk Beavers"

In addition to earning points, you can also earn special boosts that will help you collect points faster! These boosts are given based on owning specific characters on Discord (like Early Miner, Vein Master, GR-15, etc.) or owning specific NFTs related to Expedition. These upgrades will speed up your points acquisition.
