Alex Integrates BazAR Boosting Composability Alex, a decentralised archive platform has placed a collection of literary works that were mined using the platform on the atomic asset marketplace, BazAR, making it the second project to integrate BazAR after Fair Protocol and a win for composable data on Arweave.

The collection named ‘Public Domain Literary Fiction’ was mined on Alex through tradeable artifact sponsorships. Anyone can contribute to the archiving of artifacts by depositing some Arweave tokens into pools. The artifacts are deployed to Arweave as assets and distributed to the contributors who support the pool.

On Alex, artifacts are permanently stored digital content that can be documents, books, images, audio or video. A pool is a topic, event or idea that can be digitally and publicly archived.

The ‘Public Domain Literary Fiction’ is for lovers of fiction stories. In May 2023, Alex launched the Public Domain History Books for those who love history books.

With the integration with BazAR artifacts sponsors will be able to create collections and trade sponsorships on the marketplace. Also, contributors can earn $U for listing artifact sponsorship on BazAR and pool operators who archive artifacts can earn $AR for maintaining a pool.

“This integration also shows the countless possibilities for using composable data on the permaweb. With over 6 million artifacts mined onto Arweave from our platform, we aim to provide open and usable data that can be integrated into permaweb apps,” Alex stated.

BazAR is an application that leverages Universal Content Marketplace (UCM) and Unversal Data Licence. UCM was created to allow easy and decentralised trading of digital assets on the permaweb. It removes intermediaries and centralised entities from the process of trading or sharing atomic assets. With UDL, creators can embed in their assets terms of use including duration and condition of use, cost and currency.

“Preserve cultural artifacts by sponsoring storage costs on Arweave and then trade those artifact sponsorship on our platform,” BazAR said adding that “This is the future of digital archiving.”

The integration is welcomed by the ecosystem. David Kong, who does technical communications at Forward Research said the integration was good for composability.

“Content from on dApp, seamlessly experienced in a different way on other dApps. All of it done permissionlessly on Arweave,” he said.

Sam Williams, CEO of Forward Research said the collection on BazAR is a real world example of a paradigm-shifting feature of Arweave: data composability. Assets from one app seamlessly move and integrate into all others.

“This has been a goal for our team for some time now, to interact with composable data across multiple applications. So excited to get this fully shipped, let's keep building,” said Nick Juliano, developer at Alex and BazAR.
