The official blog of identity protocol Worldcoin has reported a more than 100% increase in weekly global World ID verifications following the launch of its beta version. This indicates a significant rise in demand for the product. The rate of World ID verifications had already doubled once in 2023, and last week's 2X growth in weekly sign-ups demonstrates sustained demand.

The project has also seen a three-fold increase in weekly active World App users and a more-than-ten-fold increase in weekly account creations. However, the launch has been met with criticism and scrutiny, with concerns raised over the manufacturing and operation of Worldcoin's iris-scanning orbs potentially becoming decentralized and posing a security risk. The project has also drawn the attention of state regulators in Kenya, Germany, France, and the UK.
