Vietnamese Court Sentences Two to Life Imprisonment for Violent Cryptocurrency Theft

Two individuals in Vietnam have been sentenced to life imprisonment for stealing cryptocurrency worth 37 billion Vietnamese đồng ($1.5 million). The crime involved stalking, kidnapping, and threats of HIV infection against the victim and his family. Fourteen other individuals received prison sentences ranging from nine to 19 years, including two former police officers. Despite cryptocurrency's lack of legal status in Vietnam, the country is among the world's top crypto adopters.
