Chen Yingfeng, Vice Chairman of the Asian Financial Technology Association, stated in a Ming Pao special issue that Web3.0 is a natural tool for ESG, and the two complement each other with mutually beneficial effects.
The most obvious example is the first virtual asset application tokenized green bond issued by the Hong Kong government, which natively publishes bonds on the blockchain. One of the biggest benefits is to enhance interaction between participants, reduce transaction costs, and achieve automation throughout the entire process.
As virtual assets are a key focus of Hong Kong government policy, various assets have been digitized and tokenized with the help of Web3.0 technology. In terms of ESG investment and financing, companies can represent the value and equity of their projects by issuing tokens. These tokens can be traded on the blockchain, allowing investors to directly participate in ESG project investment and financing.
