Two US senators have written to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, expressing concerns over the company's open-source artificial intelligence (AI) model, LLaMA. The senators said that the model, which was leaked in full in February, was potentially dangerous and could be used for criminal purposes.
They contrasted LLaMA with two closed-source models, OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 and Google's Bard, highlighting how easily LLaMA could generate abusive material. The senators asked Zuckerberg whether any risk assessments had been conducted prior to LLaMA's release and what Meta had done to prevent or mitigate damage since then.
