June 16 (Cointime) - Uniswap, a popular decentralized exchange, has launched its fourth version which includes new features and customizability. However, the use of a Business Source License (BSL) for v4 has caused controversy within the open source Ethereum community.
The BSL license allows the code to be publicly available but cannot be used for commercial or production purposes for up to four years.
Some members of the open source community have criticized Uniswap for claiming to be open source while using a proprietary license. Uniswap's latest version introduces "hooks," a new kind of smart contract that allows for greater customizability.
