The Sandbox and Decentraland took crypto by storm in 2021 - leading the GameFi charge and quickly securing respective market caps of between $5 and $10 billion at their peaks.
However, while institutional investors and global brands such as Adidas and Gucci jumped on the bandwagon in late 2021, the last 12 months have been a huge struggle for the two metaverse games.
According to DappRadar, the two games have had less than 20,000 players combined in the past 30 days and have been dubbed 'empty metaverses' by critics.
Their tokens - MANA and SAND - have each lost more than 90% since the November 2021 peak with more pain expected in the coming weeks for investors.
Now, an exciting new crypto presale project has also launched with the game expected to challenge The Sandbox and Decentraland at the top of the crypto gaming charts.
