The Attorney-General’s Office of Singapore Established a Virtual Currency Working Group to Focus on Dealing With Virtual Currency and Other Issues

October 18, the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Singapore Attorney-General's Chambers, Wang Shouren, stated that the Attorney-General's Chambers has officially established two specialized task forces this year to address new challenges, namely the Technology Crime Task Force and the Virtual Currency Task Force.

The Technology Crime Task Force is primarily responsible for dealing with computer or technology-assisted crimes, as well as handling digital evidence. The Virtual Currency Task Force focuses on various issues related to virtual currency as an asset, including assisting the Singapore Police Force in tracking, seizing, and disposing of such assets.

According to EBA, these guidelines ensure the implementation of EU and national sanctions. EBA believes that weaknesses in control, internal policies, and procedures may pose legal and reputational risks to financial institutions (including PSPs and CASPs). In addition, weak links in these areas for financial institutions may also "weaken" the effectiveness of the EU's restrictive measures system. The European Banking Authority emphasizes that this may lead to rule evasion, thereby affecting the stability of the EU's financial ecosystem.
