June 21 (Cointime) - A recent study by Stanford University has found that none of the current large language models used in AI tools, such as OpenAI's GPT-4 and Google's Bard, comply with the European Union's (EU) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act.
The Act, which is the first of its kind to govern AI at a national and regional level, regulates AI within the EU and serves as a blueprint for worldwide AI regulations. The study evaluated ten major model providers and found a wide discrepancy in compliance levels, with only one provider, Hugging Face/BigScience, scoring above 75%.
The researchers proposed several recommendations for improving AI regulation, including holding larger foundation model providers accountable for transparency and accountability.
