The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) was denied immediate access to Binance.US's software during a hearing on September 18th. The judge suggested that the SEC should provide more specific requests for discovery and speak with a broader range of witnesses.
The SEC has been struggling to obtain information from Binance.US since it sued the American arm of the crypto exchange, along with its international affiliate Binance Holdings Ltd and CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao on June 5th for its alleged involvement in the sale of unregistered securities. The SEC's concerns regarding the custody of Binance.US customer assets remain a central issue in the ongoing case against the exchange.
