After experiencing the most brutal year in its history last year, most cryptocurrencies have gradually recovered this year, but prices are still far below their historical highs. At the same time, data from AltIndex.com shows that the number of BTC ATMs worldwide has dropped by nearly 7,000 so far this year.
AltIndex pointed out in the article that since reaching a historical high of over 39,100 in December 2022, the number of BTC ATMs has continued to decrease over the past 10 months due to market fluctuations and controversy over potential criminal use, and the current number of BTC ATMs has dropped to the level of 2021. According to CoinATMRadar data, more than 1,500 BTC ATMs were removed in January of this year, and the number of BTC ATMs in March decreased by nearly 3,600. Most of the removed BTC ATMs were located in the United States.
