The hacker who stole over $400 million from FTX and FTX US in November may be using the attention surrounding Sam Bankman-Fried's fraud trial to further hide the funds, according to CertiK's director of security operations Hugh Brooks.
The hacker, known as "FTX Drainer," has been moving millions in Ether gained from the November attack during the trial. Brooks suggests that the hacker may have assumed that the trial would monopolize attention from the Web3 industry, making it difficult to trace all stolen funds while also covering the trial. FTX declared bankruptcy on November 11 after employees noticed massive withdrawals of funds from the exchange's wallets.
