Matter Labs, the developer of zkSync, has applied for a trademark related to ZK to ensure that the term "ZK" can be freely used in the context of related names such as "ZK Sync" and "ZK Stack". Whether you like it or not, trademarks are currently the only legal tool available. Matter Labs states that trademarks are limited to the use of specific goods or services, rather than general ownership. We are committed to finding the appropriate structure for the ZK trademark to make it accessible to everyone who builds ZK technology. ZK technology and its terminology should always remain a public product, freely available to everyone.
