Mastercard Files Trademark Application for Cryptocurrency and Blockchain-Based Tools

June 19 (Cointime) - Mastercard, the payment processor giant, has filed a trademark application for cryptocurrency and blockchain-based tools, indicating its continued support for digital currencies.

The application suggests that Mastercard plans to develop software for cryptocurrency and blockchain transactions, as well as interconnect virtual asset service providers for streamlined crypto transactions.

The trademark application provides insight into Mastercard's ambitious crypto plans, including the development of downloadable API software for verifying interactions using blockchain networks and facilitating crypto transactions.

This latest move adds to Mastercard's growing involvement in the crypto sector, which includes partnerships with Wirex, BitPay, LVL, Bakkt, and acquisitions of Ciphertrace and collaborations with Uphold and Gemini.
