On October 27th, cryptocurrency exchange Kraken plans to share specific user information with the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in November after receiving a court order in June, as reported by The Block. The dispute between the IRS and Kraken began in May 2021 when a federal court authorized the tax agency to issue a John Doe subpoena to the cryptocurrency exchange and its subsidiaries to catch tax evaders. The IRS claimed at the time that Kraken did not comply with the subpoena. In February of this year, the tax agency submitted a court document seeking approval to enforce the subpoena, and in June, a federal court ordered Kraken to provide user information to the IRS.
