June 27 (Cointime) - Klaytn Foundation, established to expand the business of Korea's representative global Layer 1 blockchain platform Klaytn, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Matter Labs, the developer of zkSync Era, a Layer 2 scaling solution based on Ethereum. The goal is to establish Layer 2 blockchain operating infrastructure and conduct pilot operations on Klaytn mainnet.

The partnership stands out as the first in the industry to explore the construction of Layer 2 and 3 chains on Klaytn, rather than the Ethereum mainnet. Future collaborative activities between the two companies include research and development to enhance connectivity between the "Klaytn mainnet" and "Matter Labs' zkSync Era Layer 2 blockchain based on zero-knowledge proofs technology," using zkSync Era to develop new Layer 2 blockchain technology for Klaytn, and exploring the establishment of Hyperchain1 infrastructure on Klaytn using Matter Labs' latest developer tool "ZK Stack."
