Jack Dorsey questions Apple CEO on lack of Bitcoin support in Apple Pay

June 27 (Cointime) - Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Block, a Bitcoin-focused financial services company, has questioned why Apple does not support Bitcoin on its mobile payment service, Apple Pay.

This comes after Apple threatened to remove the Bitcoin-friendly social media app Damus from the App Store for allowing tips or “zaps” on content paid for with Bitcoin instead of using Apple Pay. The incorporation of Bitcoin into Apple Pay, which has over 500 million users, could significantly increase the adoption of the cryptocurrency.

The situation has raised concerns about Apple's control over consumer applications and validated the need for a financial system that is resistant to censorship. Apple initially rejected the updated version of the Zeus bitcoin wallet on June 14, but approved it the following day.

The company claims to review all apps against the same set of guidelines to protect customers and ensure a fair playing field for developers. However, some critics, including Zeus developer Jack Mallers, have called the approval process "opaque" and frustrating due to a lack of specific feedback on guideline violations. Mallers warns that many bitcoin apps may be at risk.
