Immunefi CEO Michell Amador has highlighted the cost of staffing a 24/7 security desk to respond to reports from white hat hackers. While bug bounty programs pay independent security engineers for catching exploitable errors in code before they turn into a hack, it can be difficult for companies to maintain constant coverage. Immunefi aims to provide this service for Web3 clients, estimating that security scams cost the community around $4 billion in 2022 alone. Amador has also considered the potential of artificial intelligence in the industry, but believes it is still a long way from being able to replace human security engineers.
