The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission warned citizens to beware of entities operating under the name "HKCEXP" that are suspected of engaging in fraud related to virtual assets. Victims reported difficulties withdrawing funds and being required to pay high "taxes." HKCEXP provided false Hong Kong addresses on its website to mislead investors. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission suspects that HKCEXP has falsely claimed to be a "company registered with the Securities and Futures Commission," and has disseminated false and misleading information about itself and its business. The Hong Kong Police Force has taken action to block HKCEXP's related websites at the request of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. Although the police have taken action, people should beware that scammers may continue to establish new websites with similar domain names. On March 25th, 2024, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission will list HKCEXP and its related websites on the list of suspicious virtual asset trading platforms.
