Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has partnered with JCDecaux Transport Hong Kong to launch the first-ever HKIA Metaverse, offering a novel way for brands to connect with international visitors and local travelers. The groundbreaking initiative, built on the Web3 ecosystem, runs from July 6 to August 31, 2023, and features three Metaverse Airport scenes.
Visitors can explore the Departure Hall, cross the Sky Bridge, and enter the boarding gate area, where they can engage in various games and activities. The HKIA Metaverse transforms the airport environment into a gamified space, providing visitors with a unique adventure and a multi-level engagement experience.
The HKIA Metaverse also features a daily treasure hunt game, allowing visitors to discover hidden treasures and win the first-ever limited-edition HKIA Metaverse NFT, launched in celebration of HKIA's 25th anniversary. Alby Tsang, Head of Retail & Advertising of Airport Authority Hong Kong, expressed pride in being the first international airport in Greater China to launch a Metaverse, offering visitors an unprecedented way to immerse themselves in a virtual world and interact with brands.
JCDecaux Transport's Managing Director, Shirley Chan, highlighted the potential of Web3 technology and its role in enhancing HKIA's digital advertising transformation, expressing confidence that the new platform would significantly boost engagement between brands and visitors at HKIA.
