Hacker Who Stole Unreleased Music From Ed Sheeran and Others Ordered To Pay Back £100K

June 15 (Cointime) - Adrian Kwiatkowski, a computer hacker from Ipswich, England, who stole unreleased music from famous recording artists, including Ed Sheeran, and sold it for cryptocurrency on the dark web, has been ordered to pay back £100,000.

He was jailed for 18 months in October 2020 after being found guilty of stealing new music by 89 artists. Kwiatkowski, operating online under the pseudonym ‘Spirdark,’ accessed private online accounts belonging to management companies, and was subsequently traced to his home address.

The court issued a confiscation order that requires Kwiatkowski to pay back £101,053 to authorities, including the first confiscation of cryptocurrency by the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU).
