June 19 (Cointime) - France's top financial regulator, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), has expressed its support for globally coordinated regulations for decentralized finance (DeFi).
In a discussion paper released on Monday, the AMF outlined its initial thoughts on the regulatory issues surrounding the decentralized and "disintermediated" protocols that make up the DeFi ecosystem.
The AMF also called for a global approach to regulation due to the cross-border nature of DeFi activities, and invited industry stakeholders to contribute to the discussion until September 30.
The Financial Stability Board and the International Organization of Securities Commissions are also working on setting standards for the DeFi sector.
