John Reed Stark, the former head of internet enforcement at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said that Binance.US requested a protective order on August 14 to prevent the securities regulator from making excessive demands, which may not be reliable.
Stark added that the SEC had previously obtained a consent order or temporary restraining order against Binance.US. This means that the court must resolve the dispute more quickly than usual, although the process is routine.
Finally, Stark said he believed that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) would soon announce or file a lawsuit against Binance, further complicating the SEC's case. Reports dating back to at least August 2 indicate that the DOJ is preparing to bring these charges.
