Hasan Fawzi, a former executive of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, has been appointed as the head of fintech and digital assets oversight and innovation by the country's Financial Services Authority (OJK). He will be responsible for supervising technological innovation in the financial sector, digital financial assets, and cryptoassets.
Another new member, Lodewik Paulus Agusman, has been elected as the Director General for the Supervision of Financial Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and Other Institutions Providing Financial Services. While Indonesia aims to launch a state-backed crypto exchange by mid-2023, the use of cryptocurrency as a payment instrument is still not allowed in the country, as reiterated by Bank Indonesia's Bali Representative Office.
