Lord Jim O'Neill, former chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, has stated in an interview with Russian government-funded RT that China and India have the potential to dislodge the US dollar's world reserve currency status. He believes that eventually, the world's most actively used currency will be that of the world's most important economies.

O'Neill notes that conversations about the greenback's defeat have come and gone for decades, and while he has no idea on the timing of when the dollar could be dethroned, he believes that if China and India coordinate agendas, it could hasten the end of the dollar's dominance. O'Neill originally coined the term BRIC, which now represents an attempt to circumvent US financial hegemony with the addition of South Africa.
